History of
FRANCIS FUELS GROUP OF COMPANIES

William John Francis is the fourth child of Hilliard George “H.G.” Francis and Jessie Annie Vivian Francis.

In October 1933, H.G. Francis and his wife Vivian began a business of tinsmith and installing coal and wood burning furnaces in the Ottawa area. Throughout the depression of the 30's, “H.G.” as he was known, kept the business going by hard work, diversification and commitment to his customers. He added roofing services in the early years and in 1939 he began to offer plumbing services.

The distinctive emerald green trucks became a familiar sight as the fleet continued to expand to serve the Ottawa and National Capital Region.
The business continued to thrive and in the late 1940's and early 1950's his three sons, Reg, Hugh and Bill joined the business which now included Ventilation and Air Conditioning services.
 
In the late 50’s Bill saw the opportunities of adding Fuel Oil Supply and Service. Today’s business includes Fuel Oil and Natural Gas Equipment Installation & Service, Air Conditioning Installation & Service, Air Quality Control Equipment, Gas Bars and Service Stations in the Ontario & Quebec Region. Plus the Wholesale of Gasoline, Diesel & Lubrication Products.

In 1989 Bill and his wife Gail bought the original Companies owned by his siblings
(H. G. Francis & Sons Ltd., Petro-Francis Inc.) and now has the ownership of their charters and businesses.

 
Installation & Service Vans and Fuel Delivery Trucks used to provide service
 to thousands of customers in the National Capital Region.

Brent Francis is President of Francis Fuels Ltd., Dan Francis is Sales Manager, Donald Jacobs is Vice President of Finance and Neil Campbell is the General Manager of Fuels Operation.

And today it is called Francis Canada Truck Centre Inc. The truck centre operates in over 30,000 sq feet of Service Garage, office, and warehouse space. Francis Canada Truck Centre Inc. is the Ottawa Dealer for Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star Truck Sales & Service.

The Truck Centre business and buildings is owned by Wm. J. Francis and operated by Matthew Francis as President and Dealer Principal and Paul Armstrong as General Manager.
